Automotive Component Manufacturing Enter New Ventures Ahead Of EV Switch & New Emission Norms-The 21st China(Guangzhou) Int’l Forging Industry Exhibition

Economic Times reported that top automotive component manufacturing companies are venturing into new businesses to gear up for the upcoming emission norms and EV transition. Mr Anurag Jain, MD, Endurance Technologies said that “We are entering the aluminium forging business to start making triple clamps and active clamps in-house for our inverted front forks. The potential is to reach INR 1,25 crore within three years after start of supplies.”
Mr Anurag said that this will also help us increase our profit margins and give an opportunity to Endurance to also grow this aluminium forging proprietary to other two-wheeler and four wheeler aluminium forging requirements, including for electric vehicles.
Aluminium forging is a manufacturing process where the metal is pressed and pounded with pressure to produce lightweight, high strength components. Auto component analysts predict that the trend of transitioning to aluminium forging business is coming up.
Mr Shashank Kanodia, analyst, ICICI securities said that “This is a very new trend, as in everyone wants to lighten their vehicles, and optimally lighten them so that the emission norms are under control, because the regulations has become very stringent.”
Other automotive component major Bharat Forging has shifted its focus to light-weighting technology, too.
The company in its annual report said that “Stricter emission norms are likely to hasten the shift towards light-weighting technology in which BHFC has started making inroads. We are working on structural components across autos & industrial segments with focus on aluminium. The Nellore facility for light weighting will commission in second half of 2019 and has orders from domestic & export automotive customers.”
