Recently the first rake of 40 wagons of 8mm TMT coils produced from IISCO Steel Plant’s CONCAST Steel Billets was dispatched to Durgapur Steel Exchange Yard. The consignment that amounted to 2209.87 metric tonnes will be further dispatched to customers, mainly of the Eastern region.
The TMT coils were rolled out of Billets of size 150 mm X 150 mm X 12 mm, now being produced from modern Continuous Casting Plants at Burnpur itself. A total of 3766 Metric Tonnes of coils have been produced so far from the Mill and have got wide acceptance from customers.
Congratulating the employees, executive director- in- charge Ishwar Chandra Sahu said that since there is heavy demand for these earth quake resistant TMT bars, sustained production will help IISCO Steel Plant to augment its market share for these products.
The production of TMT Bars had begun from the new Wire Rod Mill for the first time last year on 9th January but from Billets of Durgapur Steel Plant after a series of stringent inspection and test of the manufacturing facilities. Since its first dispatch of 8mm TMT coils then, the Mill has achieved significant milestones, both in quality and quantity. It is only now that Billets produced at IISCO Steel Plant have been used to produce TMT coils.
